Orlando Gay Chorus Announces Artistic Director Job Opening
ORLANDO, Fla., May 5, 2022 -- The Orlando Gay Chorus (OGC) is excited to announce an opening in the Artistic Director position. The Artistic Director is a part time position that serves the Board of Directors, the governing body of the Chorus, is responsible for the rehearsals and productions of the Chorus, and promotes the vision and mission of the Chorus. Orlando Gay Chorus is seeking candidates with a Bachelors in Music Performance or Music Education and experience in vocal technique, choral conducting, music education/teaching, and piano proficiency. Ability to create an artistic vision for Orlando Gay Chorus, given its mission and history, experience in collaborating productively with others, experience in LGBTQ+ choral programming or sincere interest in working with an LGBTQ+ chorus, experience with building community partnerships, and knowledge of and sensitivity to the LGBTQ+ community, choral movement and musical/artistic community are preferred. Above all, the ability to lead, inspire, and have fun are of utmost importance in this role. The Orlando Gay Chorus wants to thank James Rode for his more than seven years of service with the Chorus in the role of Artistic Director. James Rode directed the chorus through many challenging and uplifting experiences, such as during the aftermath of the Pulse shooting, GALA Choruses Festival, sold out Fringe Festival performances, numerous concerts and cabarets, and community engagements. James was able to lead the chorus to new heights in musicality, professionalism, and vocal prowess. His collaboration with various organizations and artistic entities in Central Florida and beyond helped the chorus reach many of its goals. The Board of Directors wishes James Rode the best of luck in his future endeavors. He will be sorely missed by chorus members, leadership, longtime fans, and the community.
