Valentine’s Day, 2020 marked the 30th anniversary of the Orlando Gay Chorus. For thirty years we have shown our true colors in following our vision of using music to change images and attitudes, build a stronger community, and make the world a better place. Here are recent examples:
- While the Pulse shooting on June 12, 2016 sent a horrific shock wave through our community, the Orlando Gay Chorus quickly mobilized its volunteer membership, performing at over 120 outreach events, vigils, and memorials in the ensuing months. These efforts led to a mayoral proclamation naming the Orlando Gay Chorus as “Ambassadors of Love, Hope and Healing.”
- In reaching out to lesser-represented LGBTQ+ communities throughout Central Florida, OGC has performed full-length concerts in Cocoa Beach, Ormond Beach, and Sanford, and also performed at Pride events in Melbourne and Kissimmee.
- OGC collaborated with Opera Orlando, Orlando Choral Society, and others for Orlando’s first Faith and Diversity Festival, to help build bridges between Orlando’s LGBTQ+ and Faith communities.
In order to continue being ambassadors of hope to the central Florida community, we humbly ask you to consider a one-time, monthly, or annual donation to join our True Colors Giving Campaign.
