SINGER AUDITIONS:

What do I need to prepare for my audition and what can I expect?

Prepare a 16 measures or about 30 seconds of music that you feel shows off your voice well. This can be any style or genre of music; this should be something you are comfortable with and you feel represents you well.

What does the audition consist of?

The word “audition” sounds a little scary but there’s no need to be nervous! We’re not looking for the next Streisand or Sinatra, just solid voices to add to our sections. The auditions will consist of the following;

* Sing your prepared selection so we can hear your voice at its best.
* Vocalize. We will run some exercises with you to test your vocal range and quality.
* Musicianship. We will test your ability to read music or follow.
* After that we will chat, ask some questions and get to know you!

Note: Please don’t be intimidated by our artistic staff. Everyone wants you to do well!

DANCER AUDITIONS:

Would you love to represent the LGBTQ community in an organization like the Orlando Gay Chorus, but can’t sing your way out of a paper bag? Good news! The Orlando Gay Chorus is holding auditions this fall for experienced dancers, ages 18 and older. We are looking for two male and two female dancers who (preferably) are familiar with more than one style of dance (ex. jazz, broadway, musical theatre, modern, tap, etc. – but if you rock one style only then come in and rock that style for us!). These dancers will be expected to perform in multiple numbers with the Orlando Gay Chorus at its twice annual concerts (required) and also at community outreaches throughout the year (as dancer availability permits). Professional (paid) experience is not required. These are volunteer positions. The OGC family is ready to welcome some fabulous dancers into the family; we hope to see YOU at auditions!

What do I need to prepare for my audition and what can I expect?

Prepare about 30 seconds of choreography that you feel shows off your strongest dance style. This can be any style or genre of dance; this should be something you are comfortable with and you feel represents you well.

What does the audition consist of?

* Perform your prepared choreography.
* After that we will chat, ask some questions and get to know you!

Note: Please don’t be intimidated by our artistic staff. Everyone wants you to do well!

WHEN WILL I KNOW THE RESULTS OF MY AUDITION?

You’ll be notified of the results after all of the auditions are complete. If you’re accepted into Orlando Gay Chorus as a singing, or dancing, member you’ll be welcomed at the first rehearsal (Wednesday, August 15th, 2018), introduced to your Section Leader (or the OGC choreographer) and the entire chorus membership. If you are not selected as a member, we still encourage you to join our support staff, or our committees which aid in several facets of the chorus including public relations, fundraising, and membership.
